Wider family

Following our skiing session, the family joined the fun together with my sister Rebecca and her family. Went to Middle Beach near Studland for an ice cream. Rebecca managed to dip the nose in the swell soaking all those on the front seats. Thus proving the flyer is quite capable of catering for 10, but be careful in a large swell!!

Don't mention the shorts

They say pictures say 1000 words... these say great fun. John Gilly, Dave Austin and myself headed out for an early morning ski. Perfect conditions - super smooth water. Our first ski behind the kahuna.

This was Dave's first ever ski!

First tripping

John Woodgate and myself drove on Knightsbridge in Devon to collect the Flyer today, then took a quick trip with the family (minus Beth who was at Legoland on the CYC outing). Managed to loose one of the back seat covers on route :( but found again on the way back to the slip way! Phew.

It all started...

when I saw this advert for a salcombe flyer. We already owned a 13' dory with a 20hp engine which was great fun, but... it wasn't exactly a salcombe flyer 530 !

The salcombe flyer had already been spotted as a great family boat that would be a great all rounder: family picnics, fishing, skiing - ideal.

Following a new engine, a deal was agreed and the dory went up for sale.

A bit about the flyer: "Originally designed by the former British off-shore powerboat racing champion Gary Appleyard, the Salcombe Flyer range provides an exciting and varied portfolio of quality sports boats. Built in Kingsbridge near Salcombe in South Devon using only quality materials and fittings, every boat is produced to the highest possible standard."
